| Profound changes continue to occur in our markets. These changes are compounded by customer consolidations, distributor consolidations, and government regulations to mention a few. We formed AMEDS® to help the regional long term care/home care distributor cope with these changes while remaining profitable and competitive. AMEDS® was formed by distributors/dealers, for distributors/dealers, to confront these specific issues, unique to our segment of the health care market. Our Steering Board of Directors, made up of members, assures that our focus concentrates on those areas most important to all members. By forming an alliance or network of distributor/dealer members, we are building on our collective strengths. Each entrepreneur owner gains purchasing power and economies of scale but also contributes to the group through the sharing of ideas and strategies. These same elements which have made each of our members successful as independent regional companies-account control, personalized service, and flexibility-are our best attributes. AMEDS® provides the platform to couple these strengths with the purchasing and marketing power heretofore only accessible to our larger national competitors. It has always been my belief, and I hope one you share, that if we can obtain parity in costs, added value programs, and a vehicle to market outside our regional areas, we as regional companies would have a distinct advantage over our larger national competitors. I am proud to have had the opportunity to develop this idea, with our AMEDS® members help, into a working reality. |
